Jason Ormiston

After participating for over eleven years in urban church planting in the Midwest, Jason and his wife, Heather, moved their four children to Greenville, SC, with a desire to train men and women at Bob Jones University for multi-ethnic ministry. Jason and Heather were blessed with two more children while in Greenville. Once adjusted to his new role as a professor at BJU, Cornerstone Baptist Church extended a call to Jason to serve on staff as pastor of outreach and discipleship beginning January 2008. Jason’s heart continued to grow for church planting when he accepted the call to start Palmetto Baptist Church in 2010. He serves as the Pastor for Preaching and Vision.

Jason earned a Doctor of Ministries in Urban Missions from Westminster Theological Seminary. He also holds a BA in Pastoral Studies from Northland Baptist Bible College, an MA in Biblical Studies and an MDiv from Central Baptist Theological Seminary.

His previous ministry experience includes serving as a youth/assistant pastor for nine years, a senior pastor for two years, and an adjunct professor at Central Baptist Theological Seminary and Northland Baptist Bible College.


 

Kurt Stephens

Kurt Stephens has served as the Pastor for Worship and Administration at Palmetto Baptist Church since its start in 2010. Kurt’s primary role is to lead in executing plans and programs that support the mission and vision of the church. Kurt also oversees the operations of the church relating to finance, facilities, and building plans. 

Prior to joining the church planting team at Palmetto, Kurt served as the Operations Manager at SoundForth Music for four years. In addition to his role at SoundForth, Kurt also worked for two years as Account Manager at Your Creative People, a digital branding firm in the upstate. He previously served as Worship Pastor for a combined total of eighteen years at Oakwood Baptist Church, Anderson, SC; and Berean Baptist Church, Lilburn, GA.

As part of the leadership team, Kurt teaches, pastors, and leads Palmetto in heartfelt worship. His desire is to win unbelievers, and strengthen, encourage, and support the hands of those who serve through music and the Word. Kurt and his wife, LaDean, are the proud parents of three children: Ashlyn, Blake, and Bennett.

 

 


 

Josh Stephens

Prior to joining Palmetto Baptist Church Josh served as Lead Pastor of Community Baptist Church in Minnesota for 5 years, as well as 12 years as Associate Pastor prior to becoming the lead pastor.  Josh is the Founder/Executive Director of the Biblical Counseling Alliance which serves to produce resources and online instruction in the area of Biblical Discipleship/Counseling.   Josh is a certified Biblical Counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and Association of Biblical Counseling. He is also currently in the midst of becoming an ACBC certified Fellow to aid in continuing to equip others in Biblical Discipleship/Counseling. 

Josh is currently finishing a Doctor of Ministries in Biblical Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He also holds a BA in Youth ministries and Information Technology from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, an MA in Biblical Counseling and an MDiv from Central Baptist Theological Seminary.

Josh and His wife, Michelle have been married for 19 years and blessed with five wonderful children. (3 Girls, 2 Boys)


 

Michael Durso

Michael was ordained at Palmetto Baptist Church in August 2014 and became a Lay Pastor shortly after. Michael and his wife, Natalie served as youth leaders at their church in North Carolina for five years while Michael completed an MA in Pastoral Studies. The Dursos transitioned to PBC in 2012, where they helped start and co-lead the College Ministry. Both have a desire to disciple the college students to grow and have a deeper relationship with Christ.

Michael works full-time leading an internet lending department at a finance company in Greenville, SC. Michael and Natalie were married in 2007 and are blessed with two children, Shad and Emera.

Bill Eisaman

Bill has been a Lay Pastor at Palmetto Baptist Church since August 2014.  He serves in the college and music ministries and has a heart for discipleship. He earned an MA in Pastoral Studies from Bob Jones University in 2013 and was ordained for Gospel work by Palmetto Baptist Church in 2014.

Bill works full-time at Concentrix as a Team Lead for Intuit QuickBooks Online Customer Service. Bill and his wife, Jessica, were married in 2013 and are enjoying life in Greenville.

Ken Bixby

Ken and Clara served together in the Midwest for 20 years before beginning a time of moving which included assignments in England, Indonesia, and China before landing in Simpsonville. He has four grown children living in New York, Simpsonville, Florida and Iowa and also has four grandchildren. He is also currently serving as the children’s supervisor with Bible Study Fellowship. Ken has a heart for discipleship.

Ken earned his Doctor of Business Administration from Anderson University (Indiana), Master of Science in Management from Krannert Management School, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.

Previous ministries have included serving as an elder in Indonesia at Jakarta International Baptist Church, teaching Adult Bible Fellowship classes, planting a church in Illinois, coordinating small group ministries, serving as Christian Education Director, coordinating church budget committees, coordinating welcome ministries, teaching leadership retreats, and coordinating church strategy development.

Ralph Gruendling

Ralph Gruendling joined Palmetto’s pastoral team in 2017. Sensing God’s leading to vocational ministry during high school, he completed his formal education with Bible College and Seminary degrees.

His prior church staff experience was with Forest Hills Baptist Church in Decatur Georgia and Oakwood Baptist Church in Anderson, SC. He is a co-founder of Worldwide Tentmakers, Inc, a mission agency that exists to assist local churches in the identification, preparation and placement of self-supporting witnesses, worldwide. He served the ministry for 25 years.

While serving Worldwide Tentmakers Ralph sensed God’s leading to model the self-supporting approach to ministry. Ralph left vocational ministry to pursue a career in business. While modeling the tentmaking/self-supporting approach to ministry he used his ministerial training, experience and skill sets to serve another local church for 20 years.

Ralph’s career in the financial services industry includes 22 years of experience with New York Life Insurance Company where he is a Senior NYLIC, has qualified for the company’s Quality and Executive Councils and has been a qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table.

Ralph has been married to Rebecca for more than thirty years. They have two sons, Caleb who is married to Lauren Grace, and Seth who is engaged in finalizing his college education. Ralph and Becky are also foster parents and foster grandparents.
