Sunday, August 3

Worship Service | 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM – Click HERE for livestream.

Increasing numbers of people who grew up in Evangelical churches are converting to Roman Catholicism or Greek Orthodoxy. One of the main reasons is their  desire to be part of an ancient tradition that stretches back to a time closer to the apostles. They believe the Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic dogma reflects the most ancient and therefore authentic perspective on doctrines such as salvation. The schism created by Martin Luther and the Reformers took us away from that stream into a truncated, more recent understanding of key doctrines divergent from the long established expression of them.

How do we answer an argument like this one? In many ways, Paul faced that argument from the Jews he was trying to reach with the gospel. They believed his teaching that justification before God was by faith alone apart from the works of the Law was a recent and divergent teaching that departed from almost 2000 years of Jewish understanding of how someone was justified.

Paul corrects this error and answers this objection by pointing out that Abraham was justified by faith apart from works many years before he was circumcised. In this way, Paul not only refuted that error in his day; he gave us the way to refute that error in our own day.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor Sam helps us see and experience the blessing of being justified by faith alone!

Families Ministry Equip Class | NEW STUDY!

Sometimes parents wish there was a guaranteed formula for raising good kids—a certain list of rules to follow to ensure they’d have obedient children. But if moms and dads view their role through the lens of God’s grace, they will see that the gospel must first shape how they parent before they can effectively shape their children.

In the bestselling book Parenting, Paul David Tripp unfolds a more biblical perspective on parenting than merely adhering to a list of rules. He lays out 14 gospel-centered principles that will radically change the way parents think about what it means to raise up a child, informing everything they do as a parent.

Elective | Theology of Leadership

Most of us have primarily learned how to lead by watching how others do it. This is a great way to learn in many areas, but in the areas that the Bible addresses, this equates to “leaning on your own understanding.” Since leadership is all about influencing others and involves how we interact with others, it is a significant topic in Scripture. Leading God’s way gives Him glory, helps the organization succeed, and works to bring out the best in others. We are offering a Biblical Leadership Theology class to help you understand what the Scripture teaches about how you should lead. These practical principles apply equally to your home, workplace, and church. Class begins September 7. Click the image to register! If you have any questions, please contact Ken Bixby. Room 224 at 9 AM starting Sept. 7.

Deepen your understanding of the Lord and grow alongside other women in faith as we study the Bible, book by book, beginning with Jonah and Galatians. Precept Bible studies are designed to teach people how to study the Bible at a deeper level, but in a simple way, using the inductive study method. The inductive method uses Scripture to interpret Scripture, because who better is there to explain the meaning of God’s words than God Himself? Class will run Mondays from Sept. 8 – Nov. 17, from 6-8:30 PM. Cost: $30 (for two books). Please register by August 23.
