January 8 E-news

PBC   -

Sunday, January 11

Worship Service | 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM – Click HERE for livestream.

This past Friday has become known nationally as “Quitter’s Day.” Sociologists and culture watchers have observed two fairly consistent patterns across gender, socio-economic, educational, vocational, ethnic, and religious boundaries in the United States. The first pattern is that most Americans start the New Year having resolved to make at least one significant positive change in themselves, their life habits, or their circumstances. The second pattern is not as positive. It has been observed that most Americans abandon their resolution by the end of the second week of January. So pervasive is this reality that the second Friday in January has become known as “Quitter’s Day!”

As we start the New Year, we are also starting a new section in Romans where Paul is going to help us understand how to live out the new reality that is ours in Christ when we were justified by Faith. As we start the new year in this new section, I want us as a congregation to turn “Quitters’ Day” to our advantage by determining to put off the mindset and behaviors that weigh us down spiritually, rob us of joy, and hinder our efforts to serve Christ effectively.

Join us this Sunday as Paul exhorts us to commit to “Become Who We Are in Christ” as we begin 2026 together.

New Ladies Bible Studies

Precept Bible Study: Matthew
NEW DATE! Begins Mon, Jan 12, 6PM
Room 219

Deepen your understanding of the Lord and grow alongside other women in faith as we study the Bible, book by book. Precept Bible studies are designed to teach people how to study the Bible at a deeper level, but in a simple way, using the inductive study method. The inductive method uses Scripture to interpret Scripture, because who better is there to explain the meaning of God’s words than God Himself?

To join this study, SIGN UP HERE! Cost: $22

Sunday Evening Study: “Heaven:
When Faith Becomes Sight”
Sundays, beginning Jan 11, 6PM
Room 230

In this video-based study, Jennifer Rothschild explores the subject of Heaven from a biblical perspective. She will separate what’s true about Heaven from what’s based on legend, media depictions, and hopeful guesses. You’ll not only gain a deeper understanding of what God has prepared for His children, but also learn how to live with confidence today as you look forward to the glorious unending that awaits.

To join this study, please contact Annette Mantooth. Cost: $16
